WORKSHOP #1

Feather Foundations 3 hours

Building confident feather designs – from simple shapes to graceful variations

Workshop Description:
Feathers don’t have to be complicated – truly!. In this workshop, we’ll start with a simple, spineless feather shape and build outward – literally and creatively. You’ll learn how to turn corners, gently bend feathers, and explore 5-6 shape variations that instantly add interest without being complicated.

We’ll focus on how small changes in spacing, scale, and flow can dramatically change the look of a feather, and how to use these variations in versatile, real-world quilting situations. This class is all about building confidence and a solid feather foundation you can rely on again and again.

WORKSHOP #2

Flexible Feathers 3 hrs

Adapting feather designs to border corners, triangles, and feature motifs

Workshop Description:
Once you have a solid feather foundation, the fun really begins. In this workshop, we’ll take the spineless feather from Workshop #1 and make it work everywhere. You’ll learn how to adapt feathers around sharp corners, stretch them into triangles, and apply your feather variations to these shapes with confidence.

We’ll also explore how to use a feather as a feature motif, then support it with complementary background fill ideas that enhance – rather than compete with – the design. This class is perfect for quilters who want their feathers to feel intentional, flexible, and beautifully integrated into the quilt as a whole.
