We’ve decided to try something new for 2022 – we are going to have a guild-wide quilt along!
The theme is Star Blocks. We will send out two block patterns each month via our email distribution list (Wednesday Patch), and guild members will sew along using their own choice of fabrics. The program will run January-June, so at the end of June you will have (12) 12.5″ (unfinished) blocks to put together into a quilt of your own design.
We are still working out the details of possibly using some charity fabrics, so that the finished quilt top and back will go to our Charity committee for quilting and distribution.
The WQG All-Star Quilt Along will begin January, and the patterns for the first two blocks will go out in the Wednesday Patch on January 19th. The Quilt Along will run for six months, with a total of twelve
blocks. The blocks are all different stars, there are no blocks requiring templates, and they are all beginner/advanced beginner friendly. Sashing and layout are totally up to you.
By my calculation, you will need a minimum of 1.5 yards of background
fabric for the blocks; you may use less (or more) depending on the techniques you use for half square triangles, etc. The 1.5 yards DOES NOT include fabric for sashing or borders. The goal is to have our quilts completed
in September so that we can show at least some of them at the WQG Quilt Show in October.
There will be no Block of the Month during this timeframe – Deborah Bolton is taking a well-deserved break from the program!
